The SUU BZI Youth Engineering Academy is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Classroom Assistants to support STEM and creative summer classes including ScratchJr, Scratch, Lego Robotics, Vex Robotics, Theater, Sphero Robotics, Bridges, Rockets, cryptography, 3d printing/laser cutting, web development, and Python.
Classroom Assistants will collaborate with teachers to provide engaging, organized, and supportive learning experiences.
Key responsibilities include-
Managing attendance, distributing materials, setting up and maintaining classrooms, and assisting with curriculum delivery. Classroom Assistants will mentor students, enforce behavior standards, and foster personal growth while supporting lesson plans and activity innovation.
Additional duties include-
Communication with parents, administrative support, and ensuring a seamless, positive experience for all campers.

Responsibilities-
Take daily attendance and ensure all students are checked in promptly.
Distribute name badges and track student locations throughout the day.
Assist with student check-out at the end of each day.
Retrieve, manage, and return materials such as laptops, Chromebooks, and other supplies.
Set up and clean up classrooms and activity spaces, ensuring they are organized and ready for use.
Support classroom management by assisting with study sessions and small group discussions as directed by the teacher.
Provide individual attention and guidance to students, helping them succeed in activities and develop skills.
Act as a mentor, encouraging engagement, personal growth, and academic success.
Maintain behavior standards, including enforcing rules and dress codes.
Collaborate with teachers to develop engaging, educational, and age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum.
Propose innovations to improve the student experience and enrich program activities.
Attend staff meetings, contribute to discussions, and complete surveys or evaluations.
Communicate effectively with parents about activities and provide updates as needed.
Coordinate with staff to ensure seamless activity transitions and positive camper experiences.
Qualifications:
- Passion for STEM, creative disciplines, and working with K-12 students.
- Prior classroom or mentoring experience is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and volunteers.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
